Women's Health Series: Menopause

Menopause is an important transition in a woman’s life and during the perimenopause phase prior to the complete cessation of the menstrual cycle, various symptoms such as hot flashes, brain fog, insomnia, fatigue, and weight gain can present as hormone levels shift and fluctuate. While it is important to note that menopause is a completely normal biological process, some women experience moderate to severe symptoms that can be challenging to manage and complete daily tasks. The good news is there are ways to ease and facilitate this transition!

As a Naturopathic doctor and Acupuncturist, Dr. Chelsea offers a comprehensive approach that encompasses many tools such as eastern and western herbal medicine, acupuncture, biofeedback, and homeopathy which can be powerful in reducing some of the discomforts of perimenopause. Herbal formulas are individualized and each herb has unique properties that can balance hormones, detoxify, calm the nervous system, regulate our stress response. Biofeedback is a wonderful way to implement breathwork to stimulate the parasympathetic (rest and digest) nervous system. While each tool can be utilized individually, they are most powerful with a multi-faceted approach.

Please make an appointment with Dr. Chelsea Mikula-Chao if you are approaching menopause and are looking for a whole-body and personalized approach!
