Melissa Barber, ND, MSc, E-RYT, NTP
Dr. Melissa barber is a Naturopathic Doctor, Researcher, Register Yoga Teacher/ Therapist, Certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner in the state of Washington.
Dr. Melissa S. Barber, ND, MSc, E-RYT, NTP is bilingual in English and Spanish and has been working in healthcare since 2004 – providing care to children with disabilities and older adults, working as a Spanish Medical Interpreter, Clinic Coordinator, a Community Health Peace Corps Volunteer in Perú, Nutritionist, Yoga Teacher and Yoga Therapist, and as a Naturopathic Doctor. She has been steeped in health research at research hubs including the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU), the Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center, the Integrative Medicine Institute (IMI), Helfgott Research Institute, LettuceEat, RestorePDX, and the Biome Project, among others – working from bench to bedside, focused on improving patient health outcomes and the patient experience. Her mission is to provide the best patient-centered care, offer therapies that work, and empower patients to meet their health goals. She is motivated to address the chronic pain epidemic and investigate promising therapies – including regenerative medicine. Dr. Melissa supports an informed decision-making process where she provides the evidence and advocates for patient preference. She sincerely cares for her patients and appreciates receiving feedback about their care experience.
Dr. Melissa is currently a Resident Physician with Dr. Masa. She received her degree in Naturopathic Medicine (ND) in 2021 and her Master of Science in Integrative Medicine Research (MSc) in 2016 from the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) in Portland, Oregon. She is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher with over 2,000 hours of teaching experience (E-RYT 500) trained at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Stockbridge, Massachusetts and Rishikesh YogPeeth in Rishikesh, India. She has a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP) certification from the Nutritional Therapy Association (NTA). Dr. Melissa received her Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biology, Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Spanish, and Minor in Chemistry in the Honors Program at the University of Portland in Portland, Oregon and Universidad de Granada/University of Granada in Granada, Spain.
Dr. Melissa’s other job is being a Mother to her beautiful son and supporting her partner who is also a Complementary and Integrative Health (CIH) Researcher. Dr. Melissa loves the outdoors – she practices yoga and loves to hike, bike, run, swim, travel, and be with community.
